Matthew & Aimee
About Matthew
Hello, I’m Matthew and I’m the recently married husband to Aimee. We were married March 9th, 2018. We had the wedding of our dreams, and were off the next morning to honeymoon in beautiful Mexico. Be sure to check out the wedding tab if you’d like to see what an awesome time our wedding was. All my life I was hoping for that “one” to complete me, and I’ve found that in Aimee. She loves me unconditionally, she’s my partner in everything we do, and most importantly, laughs at all of my jokes, no matter how bad or inappropriate they are.
During the week you’ll find me roaming around the Heath Sciences Campus of Washington State University in Spokane, ready to tackle any computer problem that comes up. I manage the campus’ Technical Support Center. I have the pleasure of leading a team of three additional techs that together support the College of Nursing, Medicine and the campus’ Administration. Not a day goes by that I not only put my technical skills to the test, but also, and more importantly, continue to develop my leadership skills that I’ve learned from my time on Gonzaga’s Organizational Leadership program.
When not at work, Aimee and I enjoy spending time together and with our two kids: Penny, who’s a two year old lemon Basset hound, and Atticus, an aging Aussie. We also enjoy making wine and currently have more than 25 gallons going ranging from rhubarb to mixed berry wines. If it can ferment, we’ll probably try to bottle it. We both love to serve, which is what brought us together. We are currently the directors of Kid’s Church at The Heights Church in Airway Heights. We met teaching Sunday School together and have loved it ever since.
About Aimee
Hi, there! It’s so good to meet everyone, especially since I can be a bit shy and quiet, and all kinds of awkward at first. But, I promise if you’re patient with me you’ll soon realize I’m actually pretty okay. It took Matthew a little while to realize how remarkable I am (and for me to realize how special he is), and look how well that worked out for the both of us! There’s nobody else I’d rather have at my side than him; He encourages my whimsy and gives voice to my dreams. I don’t spend nearly enough time weeding my garden or keeping the laundry put away. And I probably spend way too much time trying to convince Matthew to buy me an old school bus, a flock of chickens, or maybe even a baby cow.
If I’ve had a good day you can find me in the kitchen. And, if I’ve had a bad day… you can usually still find me in the kitchen, processing through my day in the form of flour covered counter tops. I’m infatuated with words and understanding the weight and responsibility they hold. I’m really good at dreaming up projects, and not quite as good at finishing projects – our home is a cacophony of crafts and possibility. I believe in loving people well. I believe in listening to people who have forgotten what it’s like to have a voice. I believe in intentionally seeking purpose in the small, overlooked details of life. I believe there is a cadence to the rituals of everyday, sometimes mundane moments in life, and that giving them meaning holds a beauty all of its own.
I am Aimee. I am a wife, a sister, a daughter, an aunt, and a friend. On Saturdays, I drink coffee slowly and make breakfast from scratch (Penny and Atticus love their weekly pancake!). On Sundays, I am a dancing queen, surrounded by hoards of little people who still know what it feels like to believe they can do anything. But, most importantly, I am a follower of Christ. I am just one person who wants to do what Jesus did. Who wants to think how Jesus thought. Who wants to love how Jesus loved. And who wants to feel what Jesus felt. I am just one person, striving to know the heart of the Father, who has made all things beautiful and new.
